The Golden Flash and the Ace of Aces
The air in the Central Plaza of the Unforeseen Simulation Joint was thick with the scent of ozone, blood, and the acrid stench of decaying artificiality. One moment, Nanoha Takamachi and Fate Testarossa had been standing amidst the cooling embers of the Book of Darkness incident, breathing sighs of relief as Hayate Yagami was finally safe. The next, a violent distortion in the dimensional fabric had yanked them through a kaleidoscope of white light, depositing them into a war zone.
Nanoha didn’t need to know the names of the people involved to know that people were dying. Her violet eyes immediately locked onto a scene of absolute brutality: a man with shaggy light-blue hair and hands covering his face was lunging toward a terrified, green-haired boy. Nearby, a black-haired man in a tattered scarf lay face-down in a pool of his own blood, pinned by a monstrous, muscular creature with its brain exposed to the open air.
"Fate!" Nanoha shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos like a whip.
"On it!" Fate replied instantly, her blonde hair trailing like a comet's tail.
They moved with the synchronized grace of two souls who had fought side-by-side through hell and back. There was no hesitation, no questioning of the strange environment or the bizarre "Quirks" being displayed. There was only the mission.
"Raising Heart, Set up! Hoop Bind!" Nanoha commanded.
"Restricting," the intelligent device replied in its calm, synthetic English voice.
Golden rings of mana materialized out of thin air, snapping shut around the wrists and ankles of the blue-haired man. He stumbled, his fingers inches away from the green-haired boy’s face, as the magical restraints yanked his limbs outward.
Simultaneously, Fate banked left, her black-and-gold Barrier Jacket shimmering. "Bardiche! Lightning Bind!"
"Yes, sir," Bardiche chimed.
Yellow bolts of electricity surged from the air, weaving into a complex web that ensnared the massive, brain-exposed creature. The monster, which had been crushing the life out of Shota Aizawa, let out a guttural roar as the magical energy seared its skin and locked its joints in place.
Izuku Midoriya stared up in a daze. He had been prepared to die, or at least to break every bone in his body to save Asui and Mineta. Instead, two girls—hardly older than himself—were floating in the air, clad in intricate, high-tech armor that looked like nothing he had ever seen in the Hero Rankings.
"Are you alright?" Nanoha asked, descending slowly until her boots hovered just inches above the cracked pavement. She kept her staff, Raising Heart, leveled toward the man in the center of the plaza.
"I... I think so," Izuku stammered, his eyes darting between the glowing pink magical circles and the two newcomers. "Who are you? Are you Pro Heroes?"
"We’re... travelers," Nanoha said, her tone gentle but firm. She didn't have time to explain the Time-Space Administration Bureau. "But we’re here to help. Fate, status?"
Fate had landed near the fallen Aizawa, her crimson eyes scanning the perimeter. "The man on the ground is severely injured. He needs immediate medical attention. The creature is resisting the bind—it’s stronger than it looks, Nanoha. It feels... empty. Like it has no soul to resonate with."
"Nomu! Kill them!" the man with the hands screamed, thrashing against the Hoop Binds. "Who are you NPCs?! You're ruining the raid! You're cheating!"
"Area search complete," Raising Heart’s voice echoed in Nanoha’s ear. "Multiple combat signatures detected in the surrounding zones: Ruins, Squall, and Landslide. High-energy signatures consistent with hostile intent. Several life signs are weakening."
Nanoha’s expression hardened. The "Ace of Aces" persona took over, the legendary tactical instructor of the TSAB emerging from the young girl's frame. "Fate, we have to split up. This place is huge, and there are more of them trapped in the peripheral zones. I’ll handle the center and provide long-range support. You’re the fastest—clear the sub-zones and bring the survivors back here."
Fate nodded, Bardiche shifting into its Scythe Form with a deadly hum of energy. "Be careful, Nanoha. That man... his energy is volatile. It’s pure malice."
"I know," Nanoha said, a small, determined smile touching her lips. "But we’ve faced worse than a few angry shadows. Go!"
With a crack of sonic thunder, Fate vanished. She didn't just run; she became a blur of golden light, "Sonic Move" propelling her toward the Ruins Zone where she could sense the frantic sparks of electricity from Denki Kaminari and the rhythmic thumping of Kyoka Jiro’s heartbeat.
Back in the plaza, Tomura Shigaraki was losing his mind. "Kurogiri! Get these things off me! They’re not Quirks! I can’t decay them if I can’t touch them!"
The misty portal-man, Kurogiri, swirled near his master. "I am trying, Tomura Shigaraki, but the composition of this energy is... alien. It’s not physical matter."
Nanoha ignored their bickering, turning her attention to the students huddled near the water’s edge. "You three! Get your teacher and move toward the entrance! I’ll keep them occupied!"
"But... but the Nomu!" Tsuyu Asui croaked, her large eyes wide with fear. "It was designed to kill All Might! It absorbed all of Mr. Aizawa’s attacks!"
"Then I’ll just have to give it something it can’t absorb," Nanoha replied calmly. She raised Raising Heart, the device’s circular fins spinning as it gathered ambient mana. "Exelion Mode: ACS."
"Standby," Raising Heart intoned.
The Nomu let out a piercing shriek, its muscles bulging until the Lightning Binds began to crack. With a final, violent heave, the creature shattered Fate’s spell, the yellow fragments of mana dissolving into the air. It lunged at Nanoha, its fist a literal wrecking ball of flesh and bone.
Nanoha didn't flinch. "Protection!"
A translucent pink shield manifested in front of her. The Nomu’s fist slammed into it with a force that shattered the concrete beneath Nanoha’s feet, but the barrier held. The shockwave sent a gust of wind howling through the USJ, blowing back the hair of the stunned students.
"It’s strong," Nanoha muttered, her brow furrowing. "But it lacks technique. Raising Heart, let’s push it back. Strike Smasher!"
A concentrated burst of pink energy erupted from the tip of her staff, hitting the Nomu square in the chest. The creature was sent skidding back fifty feet, its feet carving deep trenches in the plaza.
Meanwhile, in the Landslide Zone, Shoto Todoroki was about to freeze a group of low-level thugs when a streak of gold light descended from the ceiling.
Fate Testarossa landed in the center of the fray, her Bardiche spinning in a blur. "Arc Saber!"
She threw the energy blade, the curved projectile whistling through the air and neatly slicing through the weapons of the villains surrounding Todoroki. Before they could even react, Fate was behind them.
"Stay back," Fate told Todoroki, her voice cool and professional. "I will clear the path."
"Who are you?" Todoroki asked, his ice-covered right side steaming.
"A friend," Fate replied. She didn't wait for a response. "Plasma Bullet!"
Orbs of electricity fired from her fingertips, seeking out the villains with surgical precision. She wasn't aiming to kill—Fate knew the value of life too well—but she was aiming to incapacitate. Within seconds, the dozen villains in the immediate area were collapsed on the ground, twitching from the low-voltage shocks.
"There are more of your classmates in the other zones," Fate said, turning back to Todoroki. "Can you make it to the center on your own?"
Todoroki nodded, his heterochromatic eyes filled with a mixture of awe and suspicion. "I can. But what about the others?"
"I'm going to them now," Fate said. She looked toward the Squall Zone. "Bardiche, maximum speed."
"Blitz Action," the device responded.
Fate was gone before Todoroki could blink.
Back at the Central Plaza, the situation was escalating. Shigaraki had managed to signal more of his subordinates, and a tide of villains was pouring out of the shadows. Nanoha stood her ground, a lone white-and-red figure against a sea of darkness.
"Nanoha! Incoming!" Raising Heart warned.
The Nomu had recovered and was moving with blinding speed. It appeared above her, bringing both fists down in a hammer-blow. Nanoha dived to the side, "Flash Move" allowing her to reposition in an instant.
"You're fast," Shigaraki hissed, his binds finally beginning to flicker as he poured his frustration into his Quirk, trying to decay the very concept of the spell holding him. "But you're just one brat. Nomu! Ignore the girl! Kill the kids!"
The Nomu pivoted mid-air, its empty eyes locking onto Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta.
"No you don't!" Nanoha shouted. She swung Raising Heart in a wide arc. "Restricting! Restrict Lock!"
Dozens of golden chains erupted from the ground, wrapping around the Nomu’s torso and limbs, anchoring it to the earth. The creature roared, the sheer physical power of its struggle making the chains groan under the tension.
"I can't hold it forever if I'm holding back," Nanoha whispered to herself. She looked at the injured Aizawa and the terrified children. She knew she couldn't use a Starlight Breaker here—the collateral damage would level the entire building. She had to be precise.
"Fate! Report!" she called into her internal comms.
"Ruins Zone clear. Squall Zone clear. I've gathered the students; they're heading toward the exit," Fate’s voice rang clear in her mind. "I'm coming back to you. We need to end this before the 'boss' they're talking about arrives."
"Understood. Let's use a Buster Shift," Nanoha decided. "I'll pin it down, you provide the piercing strike."
"Roger," Fate replied.
A shimmering golden light appeared at the edge of the plaza as Fate returned, her cape billowing behind her. She took her position forty-five degrees to Nanoha’s left.
The villains, seeing two of them now, began to hesitate. Even the Nomu seemed to sense a shift in the atmosphere. The air began to hum with a terrifying amount of mana.
"What is that?" Mineta whimpered, clinging to Asui’s leg. "It feels like the air is getting heavy!"
"It's... it's like a pressure," Midoriya noted, his analytical mind working even through his fear. "They're condensing energy. But where is it coming from? They don't have any visible gadgets other than those staves..."
"Divine Buster!" Nanoha cried, her staff glowing with a blinding pink radiance.
"Trident Smasher!" Fate echoed, Bardiche extending into its long-range form.
The two beams of energy—one a massive pillar of pink heat, the other a three-pronged spear of yellow lightning—merged as they flew toward the Nomu. The creature tried to scream, but the sound was swallowed by the roar of the magic.
The explosion was controlled, a testament to Nanoha’s mastery of tactical bombardment. The Nomu was driven deep into the floor of the plaza, the ground vaporizing beneath it. When the smoke cleared, the creature was still alive—its regeneration was truly monstrous—but it was charred, smoking, and temporarily paralyzed by the magical overload.
"Nomu!" Shigaraki screamed, his voice cracking. "Kill them! Get up and kill them!"
Suddenly, the massive reinforced doors at the top of the USJ stairs were blown off their hinges. A massive, looming silhouette stood in the dust, the very air seeming to vibrate with his presence.
"It is fine now!" a booming voice echoed through the dome. "Why? Because I am here!"
"All Might..." Midoriya breathed, tears pricking his eyes.
Nanoha and Fate didn't lower their guard. They turned slightly to look at the newcomer. He was a mountain of a man, dressed in bright primary colors, radiating a level of physical power that rivaled some of the mid-tier Belkan knights they had encountered.
All Might took in the scene in a single glance: his students safe but shaken, Aizawa bleeding on the ground, two mysterious girls in strange armor holding the line, and a smoking crater where a monster lay defeated.
"I don't know who you young ladies are," All Might said, his usual smile replaced by a mask of cold, righteous fury as he looked at Shigaraki. "But I thank you for protecting my students. I will take it from here."
Nanoha looked at Fate, who gave a small nod. They drifted back, allowing the "Symbol of Peace" to take center stage, but they didn't leave.
"Raising Heart, keep a barrier around the students," Nanoha commanded softly. "Fate, watch the mist-man. If he tries to warp the big guy away, interrupt him."
"Understood," Fate said, her eyes narrowing as she watched Kurogiri.
As All Might surged forward with a "Carolina Smash," Nanoha watched the battle with a critical eye. This world was strange, filled with people who possessed innate powers, yet lacked the structured discipline of the Bureau.
"Nanoha," Fate whispered, moving closer so their shoulders touched. "Do you think we can get home?"
Nanoha reached out and took Fate’s hand, squeezing it gently. "We always do, Fate. But for now, there are people here who need help. And you know me..."
Fate smiled, a genuine, warm expression that didn't belong in a place this dark. "I know. You can't turn away from someone in trouble. You just want to be friends with everyone."
Nanoha laughed softly, Raising Heart humming in agreement. "Well, sometimes you have to hit them a little bit before they're ready to talk. Let's make sure these 'villains' don't hurt anyone else."
As the battle between All Might and the Nomu reached its fever pitch, the two mages from another world stood ready. They were the bridge between worlds, the protectors of the innocent, and though they were far from Mid-Childa, their resolve remained unshakable.
The "Ace of Aces" and the "Golden Flash" were on the clock, and they wouldn't stop until the mission was complete.
Nanoha didn’t need to know the names of the people involved to know that people were dying. Her violet eyes immediately locked onto a scene of absolute brutality: a man with shaggy light-blue hair and hands covering his face was lunging toward a terrified, green-haired boy.
