A Severed Boundary

The suite on the forty-second floor overlooked the glittering skyline of Singapore, but Net Siraphop couldn't care less about the view.

His coat was already discarded on the leather armchair, his necktie loosened just enough to expose the tense hollow of his throat. Beneath his tailored exterior, his Alpha pheromones were churning—sharp, dark cedar spiked with an acrid edge of raw fury and territorial possessiveness.

It had started during the late-afternoon recess at the Marina Bay financial tower. JJ had slipped away to coordinate the regional directors' dinner reservations and double-check translations for the revised merger drafts. In his absence, two vice presidents from the partner firm had lingered by the espresso bar, their voices dropped into casual, vulgar speculation.

“The little assistant... sweet scent, even through the blockers. You think Manithikhun keeps him on a tight leash, or does he share?”

“With a waist like that? I’d offer him double his salary just to sit on my desk.”

They hadn't realized Net was standing just behind the frosted glass partition. When Net stepped out, the sheer, crushing weight of his Alpha aura had dropped the temperature in the corridor to freezing. He hadn't raised his voice. He had simply leaned in, his gaze predatory and lethal, and quietly informed them that their proposed contract terms had just been slashed by four percent, and that if their eyes wandered toward his personnel again, their firm wouldn't survive the quarter.

JJ had returned five minutes later, tablet pressed neatly against his ribs, blissfully unaware of the wreckage Net had left behind.

Now, inside the quiet isolation of their penthouse, the silence felt suffocating.

"Khun Net," JJ began, tapping the screen of his tablet as he stepped toward the dining table. "The morning briefing is pushed to nine. I’ve already forwarded the amended clause regarding the regional distribution. If you want to review the slides before bed, I can—"

"Put it down, JJ."

JJ paused, his fingers hovering over the glass screen. He looked up, his soft, expressive eyes blinking in confusion. As an Omega, JJ had always possessed an instinctive intuition for Net’s moods, but tonight the air was so dense with Net's scent that JJ’s pulse gave a nervous flutter.

"Sir?"

Net didn't answer with words. He crossed the expansive living room with slow, deliberate strides.

JJ instinctively took a step back, the heels of his dress shoes catching on the plush carpet. "Khun Net? What's wrong? Did the client say something about the figures?"

Net kept advancing until JJ's back pressed firmly against the heavy mahogany credenza. There was nowhere left to retreat. Net placed one large, calloused hand on the wood right beside JJ’s hip, boxing him in. The sheer proximity made JJ’s breath hitch, the rich, suffocating smell of cedar and rain clouding his senses.

"They look at you," Net said, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly register that vibrated straight through JJ's chest. "Every room we walk into. Every boardroom. Every dinner. They look at you and think you’re something soft. Something available."

JJ’s breath hitched, bewildered. "I... I don't know what you mean. I’m just doing my job—"

"You're brilliant," Net interrupted, leaning closer until his lips brushed the sensitive shell of JJ's ear. "You run circles around their executives. You anticipate every move I make before I even make it. And they look at you and think you're just a pretty Omega waiting for someone to claim you."

"Khun Net, please, you're not making sense," JJ whispered, his heart hammering against his ribs. He tried to place a flat palm against Net’s chest to create distance, but the heat radiating through the Alpha's dress shirt burned his skin. "Did something happen? Let me step back—"

"No." Net's hand gripped JJ’s wrist, pinning it gently but unyieldingly against his own chest, right over the heavy, frantic thud of his heart. "I’m done letting you step back. I’m done pretending this space between us is just professional."

"We can't—" JJ started, panic and long-repressed longing tangling in his throat. "We're co-workers. You're my boss, Net, we can't just—"

Net silenced him by crashing their mouths together.

It wasn't a tentative first kiss; it was an eviction of years of silence. Net took JJ’s mouth with an intoxicating, bruising hunger, parting JJ’s lips with an insistent sweep of his tongue. JJ let out a smothered gasp, his body trembling as a dangerous wave of heat coiled in his gut. His mind screamed that this was reckless, that years of careful boundaries were collapsing in seconds, but when Net's free hand slid under his blazer to cup his waist, JJ’s knees buckled.

Net caught him effortlessly, lifting him by the thighs and setting him onto the edge of the credenza.

"Net... wait, wait, we shouldn't..." JJ pleaded weakly against Net's lips, his hands clutching Net’s shoulders. Whether he was trying to push him away or pull him closer, even JJ didn't know. "Please... you're not thinking straight..."

"I have never been clearer," Net growled against JJ's neck.

Net’s teeth scraped over the tender expanse of JJ’s scent gland, right where the artificial blocker patch sat. With an impatient flick of his fingers, Net peeled the synthetic patch away and dropped it to the floor. The sweet, intoxicating aroma of ripe peaches and vanilla burst into the room, uninhibited and pure.

The Alpha inside Net snarled with raw satisfaction.

Buttons gave way. Fabric tore softly in Net's haste. Within minutes, JJ's tailored trousers and briefs were stripped down his legs, leaving him exposed on the cold, dark wood. JJ shivered, trying to pull his thighs together in an instinctive bid for modesty, but Net shoved his knees wide, stepping between them.

"Look at me, JJ," Net commanded, unbuckling his own belt with frantic, trembling precision.

JJ looked, his eyes glazed with tears of sensory overload. When Net entered him—pressing forward without enough preparation, guided only by the slick that JJ’s traitorous Omega body produced in response to the Alpha’s overwhelming aura—JJ cried out, his fingernails digging into Net’s broad back.

"Ah! Net—stop, it's too much, please—"

Net froze, breathing harshly against JJ's forehead, his jaw clenching as he fought his instincts. "I have you. I’m right here, baby. Relax for me. Let me in."

Net leaned down, kissing JJ's tear-streaked eyelids, his cheeks, his trembling mouth, showering him with tender devotion even as his lower body remained ruthlessly possessive. JJ whimpered, his core stretching around the formidable thickness of the Alpha. The friction sparked a white-hot fire, melting his resistance until JJ’s hips gave an involuntary, desperate hitch upward.

That was all the permission Net needed.

The credenza groaned against the wall as Net began to thrust. It was deep, relentless, and all-consuming. Every slam of Net's hips drew broken, high-pitched sobs from JJ’s throat. Net took him right there against the wood, driving JJ over the edge within minutes, JJ's climax spilling between their stomachs with a shattered cry.

Yet Net didn't slow down.

Before JJ could recover his breath, Net scooped him up into his arms, carrying him into the master bedroom. He threw JJ onto the king-sized mattress and followed him down immediately, dragging JJ’s legs over his shoulders.

"Net, please... I can't, it hurts, I'm too sensitive—" JJ wept, squirming as his overstimulated nerves flared like exposed wires. Every brush of Net’s skin felt like an electric shock.

"You can take me," Net rasped, his eyes dark with an obsessive, primal haze. "You're mine, JJ. Only mine."

He plunged back inside. The second round was longer, harder, and devoid of mercy. JJ was crying openly now, lost in a whirlwind of overstimulation, his body clenching rhythmically around Net's shaft in helpless spasms. He begged for pauses that Net refused to grant, Net's mouth relentlessly catching JJ’s whimpers and turning them into kisses. When Net finally swelled at the base, locking them together in a tight, inescapable knot, JJ threw his head back, his vision whiting out as another shattering orgasm ripped through him.

Net buried his face in JJ's scent gland, groaning JJ’s name like a prayer as his seed flooded the Omega.

Even after the knot deflated, Net wasn't finished. Spurred by the intoxicating scent of an Omega thoroughly claimed, Net rolled JJ onto his stomach for a third, slower, agonizingly intimate round. By the time Net finally collapsed beside him, JJ was barely conscious, his limbs limp, his eyelashes damp with dried tears.

The frantic storm subsided, leaving only the sound of heavy breathing in the dark.

Net’s expression shifted, the manic possessiveness softening into immense, tender reverence. He gathered JJ’s completely exhausted form against his chest, pressing soft kisses to the bruises blooming on JJ’s hips and the nape of his neck. Net got out of bed, returned with warm, damp towels, and meticulously wiped JJ clean, handling him as if he were made of spun glass. JJ didn't stir; he was already dead to the world, completely spent.

Tucking the heavy duvet up to JJ’s chin, Net pulled the Omega into his arms, burying his nose into the soft hair at the crown of JJ's head, and finally closed his eyes.

Morning sunlight crept through the gaps in the sheer curtains, casting pale gold ribbons across the bed.

JJ woke abruptly, his entire body aching with a deep, bruised soreness.

For three seconds, he stared at the ceiling, disoriented. Then, memory struck him like a physical blow.

The credenza. The sheets. The desperate begging. Net’s scent flooding him, claiming him, knotting him.

Cold panic seized JJ’s chest.

What have I done?

He turned his head slowly. Net was lying on his side, his arm thrown heavy across JJ’s waist, still asleep. His sharp, handsome features looked softer in rest, the ruthless CEO replaced by an exhausted man.

JJ’s heart fractured. Without knowing about the hallway gossip, the only conclusion JJ could draw was devastating: Net had lost control. An Alpha’s temporary instinct had gotten the better of him, and JJ, who had secretly loved Net for five agonizing years, had completely yielded.

He’s going to regret this, JJ thought frantically, nausea rising in his throat. It ruined everything. Our work, our trust, our boundaries. He’ll look at me and see an assistant who took advantage of a moment of weakness.

Carefully, holding his breath, JJ took Net’s wrist and tried to ease it off his stomach. He winced at the dull throb between his thighs as he slid toward the edge of the mattress, his feet touching the carpet. He had to get to his own room. He had to shower, put on a fresh blocker, put on his suit, and pretend—

A hand clamped down around his wrist.

JJ froze.

"Where are you going?" Net’s voice was thick with sleep, but the grip on JJ's arm was unshakeable.

JJ didn't turn around. He couldn't bear to see the regret he assumed was written across Net's face. "I... I need to go to my room, Khun Net. It's almost eight. We have the breakfast meeting with the logistics team, and I need to prep the—"

"JJ."

The bed shifted. Net sat up, reaching forward to grasp JJ’s shoulders and gently turning him around. JJ kept his gaze glued to the carpet, his lower lip trembling.

"Look at me," Net murmured softly.

"Khun Net, please," JJ choked out, his professional facade completely shattering. "Let's just... let's pretend last night was an accident. You were stressed. The overseas negotiations were overwhelming, and I didn't stop you, so it's my fault too. We don't have to talk about it. I won't make it awkward, I swear. I won't bring it up, just... please don't fire me."

Net went utterly still. "An accident?"

JJ finally lifted his eyes, brimming with unshed tears. "Wasn't it? You lost control. I know how Alphas can get when they're under pressure, and—"

"Do you really think that little of me?" Net interrupted, his voice dropping, tinged with disbelief and genuine pain. "You think I spent all night taking you, holding you, losing my mind over you, because of work stress?"

JJ blinked, stunned by the raw hurt in Net's eyes. "Then... why? You’ve never touched me like that. Not in five years."

Net let out a ragged breath and reached up, his thumb gently catching a stray tear rolling down JJ’s cheek.

"Yesterday, before the recess," Net said quietly, "two executives from the partner firm were in the hallway. They were talking about you. Disgusting, predatory things. Wondering how much it would cost to take you from me. Wondering if you were easy."

JJ’s breath caught. "They... what?"

"I wanted to tear their throats out," Net admitted, his jaw tightening at the memory. "I threatened their contracts instead. But when we came back to this room and you started talking about schedules and slides, looking so composed, so untouched... I snapped. Not because I was stressed, JJ. Because I couldn't bear the thought of another day where the world thinks you don't belong to me."

JJ stared at him, his mind reeling. "Net..."

"I've been in love with you for years," Net confessed, the words pouring out without hesitation, stripped of all corporate armor. "I kept quiet because I respected your career. I didn't want you to feel trapped by your boss. I didn't want you to think you had to say yes to keep your job. But last night... I was selfish. I broke every rule I made for myself. But it was never an accident. You are not a momentary lapse in judgment. You’re the only person I want."

JJ sat frozen on the edge of the bed, the sheer magnitude of Net’s words washing over him. The five years of late-night office dinners, the lingering glances across conference tables, the shared coffees, the silent understanding that everyone in their company had seen except the two of them—it wasn't a one-sided fantasy.

"You... you love me?" JJ whispered, his voice cracking.

"More than my company. More than my own pride," Net said fiercely, pulling JJ into his lap. He wrapped his arms around JJ’s waist, burying his face in the crook of JJ’s neck where their scents were now hopelessly tangled. "If you hate me for last night, I will step down. I will find you a position anywhere you want. But don't you dare tell me it was a mistake."

A watery laugh bubbled up from JJ's chest, quickly turning into a sob of profound relief. He threw his arms around Net’s broad neck, clinging to him tightly.

"You idiot," JJ murmured into Net's shoulder, his fingers threading through the Alpha's dark hair. "I’ve been terrified for five years that if I looked at you too long, you’d transfer me away. I thought I was imagining it."

Net pulled back slightly, his dark eyes wide with sudden hope. "You feel it too?"

"Of course I do," JJ breathed, pressing his forehead against Net’s. "I've been yours for years, Net. You were the only one who didn't see it."

Net let out a sound that was half-laugh, half-groan, crushing JJ against him in a fierce, breathless kiss. It was completely different from the desperate madness of the previous night; this kiss was slow, tender, and brimming with promises.

When they finally parted, Net rested his hand against the side of JJ’s neck, his thumb stroking the bruised scent gland.

"We’re calling the office," Net stated firmly.

JJ raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile touching his lips. "And tell them what? That the CEO and his assistant are skipping the morning briefing?"

"That the CEO is promoting someone else to manage the schedule," Net corrected, kissing the tip of JJ's nose, "because my mate isn't going to be fetching my coffee anymore."

JJ’s heart soared at the word mate, settling warm and heavy in his chest. "I can still manage your schedule, Net."

"We'll see," Net chuckled, pulling the duvet over both of them as he pulled JJ back down against the pillows. "Starting tomorrow. Today, we're not co-workers. Today, you're staying right here with me."

JJ smiled, burying his face into the warm, safe curve of Net’s chest, finally letting the boundary between them dissolve into nothing.
